Inspired by the ever-changing parade of critters who share the Hollow with her and an healthly dose of Hollywood Hero-worshipfulness, the resulting images are conjured by the imagination of a gentle soul dreaming of far-away places and a time when magic and the innocence of childhood made all things possible.

9 language arts on the largest reserve in Canada – The Kainai Nation, part of the

Blackfoot Confederacy. But in 1997 he heard a Loudon Wainwright III record and

was hooked by the music and stories. In 1998 he bought a guitar and learnt

some chords. In 2002 he quit teaching and began to pursue the dream of being

a working musician. John has achieved some fine accolades in a few short years

in cluding a mainstage performance at the 2009 Kerrville Folk Fest, three Grand

Prizes at the Calgary Folk Fest Songwriting Competition, and numerous

nominations and awards. With comparisons to Gordon Lightfoot, James

Keelaghan, and John Prine, John Wort Hannam is a born story- teller with a keen

eye for the quirky and lyrics that create stories behind the songs.

The Intuitive Painter- A fluid and Heavy Body Acrylics Adventure

September 19, 2010 – Septmeber 24, 2010

It has been said that if you don’t listen to your intuition, it will stop talking to you, Nothing could be more true when it comes to painting. No matter your experience or techinical expertise, intuition is the guiding force behind creative fulfilment. Painting in both the studio and enplein air, this late-Septmeber island workshop will teach you about holding on and letting go, and the three essential qualities in all creative painting- patience, persistence and trust. By experimenting with acylic paints and stepping outside you comfort zone, intuition will take you into the limitless world of abstraction. Once there, wonderment will take hold. An out-of-this world trip of a lifetime.

Claudia is an elected member of the Society of Canadain Artists, a painter, a graphic artists and a dreamer. her painting and extensive teaching experience reflect her free spirit and joi de vivre.

Fashion Nuno Silk and Felt Scarves

July 15, 2010 to July 18, 2010

Conceive, explore and finish a piece of wearable art. Create your design and it’s yours to wear, using the ancient art of felt-making, with a twist. Nuno felting allows us to use small amounts of wool on silk fabric to make a extremely drapeable felt. We will combine very soft Merion wool on silk chiffon, with a wet felt technique. Each scraf will have natural fibre accents. No experience necessary. A materials fee of $50, payable to the instructor, provides wool fabric and silk fabric, along with supplies (which you take home with you).

Jackie Sylvester settled on Amherst Island, temporarily, 32 year ago, having worked with fabric for the previous decade. She was a weaver with Design Senior in the 70’s. Joining the Kingston Handweavers and Spinners eight years ago (segueing out of her career in residential design and finishing details), Jackie was seduced by her introduction to felting. she has been exploring the medium of felt for the past several years. She is also a novice spinner and gardener.
