Christine Jamieson: Sept. 1, 2012

Vivid colours, figurative illustrations and bits of found objects: all play a role in Christine Jamieson’s art.

Painting primarly with encaustics, she incorporates her illustrations into her pieces. “Being a graphic designer, I put a lot of thought into colour and composition. I am always striving for balance in my work. I love the challenge of bringing together the depth and richness of wax and bold graphic elements. I want to transfer my energy and excitement into my artwork.”

Christine studied at St. Lawrence College for Graphic Design, and has taken several encaustic workshops both in Kingston and Toronto.

Her artwork is featured on the cover of the 2011 Queen’s University Annual Report. She has displayed pieces at LuLu’s Salon in Kingston, and Queen’s University.

Tammy Shane: Aug. 4, 2012

Landscapes, trees and songbirds are the focus in most of this work. Growing up on the outskirts of Kingston, Ontario, Shane was captivated by the natural world.

Her landscapes often begin with photos from nature, and although representational, evolve from a specific place into something less literal.

Having attended Brock University and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art, in her final year of the program she enrolled at Queen’s University and travelled abroad. Following graduation, she completed a post-graduate course in Advanced Illustration at Sheridan College where she further explored a variety of different mediums.
